Primary Souces in GW Library Databases

GW Library’s subscription databases include literally millions of primary sources, many of them with images.

  1. Go to GW Libraries>Subject Databases–you’ll see the link under the main search box on the home page.
  2. Use the A-Z tabs at top to find each database title below. Ask a librarian for help as needed.
  3. Search within each database to find magazine and newspaper articles, political cartoons, comic strips, illustrations, photographs, advertisements, and other visual media.

NOTE:  When you find an image blocked for “copyright reasons,” click full-page PDF, where it usually is not blocked.  Whenever possible, view full-page PDFs to see the article as it originally appeared in the newspaper or magazine. Context is everything.
