In my opinion, I find the Civil Rights Movement Veterans database the most useful for my research topic. For my project, I am exploring how women during the time frame of World War II through the Civil Rights Movement had a large impact towards desegregation. We always come across male figures, like Martin Luther King Jr., who played an important role for Civil Rights Freedom, but we never come around women beneficiaries as much. Through this database, I found multiple images that show representation of women fighting for their rights. The amazing thing about this database is I found images not just of African American women having non violent protests, but also, there were large amount of sources and images of white American women fighting alongside. For example, I received many images from the Farmville, VA protest for desegregation of the schools of both Caucasian and African American people. This database allows me to further my studies on different gender affiliation during this movement and help pinpoint sources, whether large or small, how women took action to get what they deserved.
